Frequently Asked Questions
On this page, we have answered most questions that our customers ask us frequently. However, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
How much does window tinting cost?
Price is vehicle specific and depends on a few different factors, like the quality of film you choose. The best way to get an estimate is to give us a call on (07) 4153 1970 or simply use our free online quote request form.
Why do I see bubbles right after installation
The moisture we use for installation can remain between the film and windows for up to 2 to 3 weeks and sometimes longer in colder climates. Moisture or condensation comes in the forms of haziness and water bubbles or pockets. They clear up and the moisture simply evaporates. Never try to push around any of these water pockets, for this can create air pockets which don’t go away on their own.
Are the rear windshields tinted in one piece?
The film on 99% of the vehicles that come through Just Tinting are heat shrunk via a prepping process and then installed in one piece on the rear windshields. So you don’t have to worry about any visible gaps.
My car is equipped with a feature that drops the window slightly when opening the door. Will this cause problems when tininting?
No, not at all. We, as well as the majority of tint shops, are well aware of this feature. It has been around for years. We know what to do so that the windows will be tinted in the full up position so that no gap will result when the doors are closed.
How long does it take to tint the windows on my vehicle?
Vehicles vary from one to the next. The average installation time is about an hour. Some factors that may play a part in the time involved are:
Does the tint go on the inside or outside of the windows?
All tint is installed on the inside of the vehicle windows. Sometimes a customer may see prepping being done on the outside. For example, the shrinking of the rear windshield.
Can I wash my car right after install?
Yes, since all the film is installed on the inside of the windows, the outside of the car being washed (or rained on, for that matter) will not create any problems. Just make sure the inside remains uncleaned for about a week after the tint job.
How long will I need to keep my windows up after installation?
After installation, we recommend leaving tinted windows up for three days to avoid any damage while the moisture between the windows and the film is still drying.
Will I lose any navigation or radio reception after tinting my windows?
There are only a handful of vehicles on the market today that will have interference due to the metallic nature of good-quality film. We are aware of these vehicles and offer non-metallic solutions in these cases. Have a chat with our team to discuss your needs and we can recommend the best possible solution.
What film matches my factory tint on my SUV, Ute or mini-van?
Most vehicle manufacturers on the market today use 15% as their factory film. Sometimes, the brand of film may play a part in the colour matching too. We’ll offer suggestions for every specific vehicle.
How is window film installed?
The installation process starts with thoroughly cleaning your windows to remove even the smallest pieces of dirt and micro particles. A piece of film is cut roughly to the size of your window, its release liner is removed and an application solution is sprayed on the film’s adhesive to activate it. The application solution is also sprayed on the window. The film is then placed on the glass and the application solution is pressed out from between the glass and film through the use of a squeegee. The final touch is edge trimming to ensure the film fits perfectly. At Just Tinting Bundaberg, we have been tinting windows for over 30 years, so you can expect only the highest quality of tinting services from us.
Should I drop off my vehicle or wait?
Both options are available and you can do what works best with your schedule. However, we prefer that the vehicle be dropped off for the day, so our team can really focus on delivering the best results.
How durable is window tint?
Many times our customers enquire about the durability of window film – “Will my kids tear it up?”
We are glad to report this is not a problem. Pets are also a concern but damage is usually confined to smudges that just need to be wiped. The hard scratch-resistant coating found on the quality window film products we use at Just Tinting do an excellent job protecting window tint from everyday use as well as kids and pets. A word of caution is to remember window tinting is installed on the inside of the glass and is usually coated with a high quality scratch resistant layer for protection. The key word is resistant. Take care when loading and unloading objects with sharp or hard edges, boxes, sporting equipment, etc. It is possible to tear even the best window tinting material with a sharp or hard object hitting against the tint. Glass without tinting, or with factory window tint, can be damaged in this fashion also. If you accidentally cause damage to the film, the cost of re-doing the window is generally inexpensive. Unfortunately, these types of damage are not covered under our lifetime warranty.
What are the benefits of window tint on a building?
Depending on your choice of film and it’s application, there are varying benefits. For example, safety films can hold shattered glass in place to offer protection from threats like:
Tinted window films, also called solar control films, can do the following:
